Unturned combines zombie shooter and sandbox with survival elements. In single, the user explores locations, destroys the undead, and looks for useful loot. In multiplayer, the user does about the same thing, but also fights with live opponents. There is also a separate battle royale mode.

Players who kill other gamers for no reason become bandits. You can become a hero by shooting criminals. In close combat, katanas, bats, axes, chainsaws, golf clubs are used. Firearms include a Colt, a shotgun, an AK-47, a screw cutter, a double-barreled shotgun, a bow, an M4, a crossbow, and other guns. It is allowed to hang upgrades on the barrels: a laser designator, an enlarged clip, a telescopic sight, a silencer, a flashlight.

In Unturned, there is a transport. Cars require gasoline and can explode in the event of a well-aimed hit. In addition to trips and shootouts, there is crafting and construction. You can hunt animals or go fishing. It is possible to build a dwelling and grow food on its territory. Cooking allows you to cook food.

The action takes place on official levels (PEI, Washington, Yukon) or in custom locations. On some servers, you can switch the camera from a first-person view to a behind-the-back view. The indie project has 3 levels of difficulty: easy, medium and hardcore. On the latter, the interface changes and the map is disabled. The product also includes leveling, skins, and loot boxes.
