Gameplay in Wing Commander is conducted from the cockpit. The user can see what is happening through the protective glass, controlling the shuttle with the help of a lever. In the center of the screen there is a crosshair, due to which you can aim at the target much more easily. When an object to be destroyed comes into view, it is necessary to open fire. There is only one type of ammunition here - plasma charges, but it is quite enough to quickly deal with the next enemy ship. At the same time, the gamer can independently change the direction of movement and, if necessary, attack the enemy from the second or third pass. And although the vastness of space does not contain any restrictions or external objects, you need to carefully choose the moment for the attack, because the progress of the character depends on the outcome of each mission. If the current tasks are completed successfully and receive a high rating, the following tasks will be more diverse. But if the user once again fails to fulfill some of the conditions of the mission, he will not have the freedom of action that he had before.
