In Thymesia the player takes control of the mysterious Corvus. The events unfold in a fictional kingdom ruled by death and bandits. The protagonist tracks down opponents and eliminates them. Corvus has been given the power of the plague, deadly spells that will help get to the truth in the land. Previously, the kingdom prospered, and life sang with bright colors. The ruler decides to try to ban the dark business of alchemy, and catastrophic events follow. A few days later, chaos engulfs the state, monsters crawl out of the ground and kill civilians.

The protagonist has lost his memory, but only by restoring it will he be able to find out where the monsters came from and how to destroy them. As the central character explores the world and completes quests, he discovers his own lost memories by solving mysteries. The ward has learned to use the power of enemies against them. Destroying bosses or regular minions only makes Corvus stronger. The power of the disease is applied against each opponent and helps to quickly eliminate him. In battles, the gamer is able to use melee weapons and character skills. Gradually, the hero will unlock more skills and weapons.
