Song of the Deep

Side view travel in Song of the Deep is the adventure of a 12-year-old girl named Merrin. She spent her childhood with her father, who constantly told her stories about the sea and the depths, in which nothing could be seen but the suffocating pressure and the occasional shoal of predatory fish that were afraid to climb up. One day, her father, a fisherman, goes missing, and she sets out to rescue him. From her father's stories, she knows how to assemble a boat, what equipment to take with her. She goes to explore the ocean, and is convinced of the truth of most of the scary tales that her father told her.

The game is a side-scrolling platformer with a significant component in the metroidvania genre. Most locations require the player to find certain equipment on the location for Merrin herself and her handmade ship. To overcome most of the obstacles, we need upgraded equipment, but we can cope without it, but in the next location it will be too difficult.

The game is not designed to be constantly fighting enemies. Much of the plot focuses on a gradual, smooth progression leading to the liberation of Merryn's father. Puzzles, logic tasks, finding objects and exploring locations are the main task of the protagonist, but you will also have to kill enemies. A voice-over languid voice will tell us the story of Merryn, her father, and will also notice the peculiarities of the game's passage. The entire narrative is voiced by Siobhan Hewlett.
