Runo offers a glimpse into history inspired by Finno-Carrelian folklore. This is a walking simulator where the character is on the territory of an old family cottage in Finland. Here, he reflects on the past and the present, on tales and legends, on mystical phenomena and forgotten secrets of the past. The project was inspired by the national epic, so you can notice a lot of elements that indicate this.

Even though the total time of passage in Runo does not exceed one hour, this is a full-fledged story where you can comprehend what is happening on the screen for a long time. The hero moves around the designated location, interacting with surrounding objects as much as possible. For example, it can reply to messages using the phone by selecting one of the available replies, or take pictures of the forest. Once on the territory of the cottage, you can fully inspect the house and adjacent places, picking up objects and finding notes of various kinds. It is with their help that the details of the plot are revealed and a full-fledged picture of the perception of this reality is created. Thanks to the high level of texture detail, rooms, forests and other places look realistic and create the effect of presence. A gamer can literally feel like he is on the outskirts of the forest and, absorbing that atmosphere, be alone with his own thoughts. These thoughts, by the way, are displayed at the bottom of the screen in the form of separate lines - this is how the hero conducts a conditional monologue, reasoning about various problems.
