Kennedy, did not die in an assassination attempt, as well as a major leap in space technology that brought humanity into contact with an alien race, the Typhons.

The aliens turned out to be unfriendly towards humans, because of this, the largest countries of the world, including the USSR and the United States, joined forces to create a common space fleet. An important object in space is the "Cage" station in the far orbit of the Moon, its purpose is to obtain information from captured typhons through experiments, to study the structure of aliens and determine weak points. It will become the place where the gameplay takes place.

The plot is not linear, the player is responsible for all the decisions made by the protagonist (at the beginning of the passage, you will be asked to choose the gender of the main character). In the process of leveling up a character with the surname Yu, you can even get Typhon abilities, such as the ability to transform into many surrounding objects such as cups or balls. Also in Prey, you constantly need to search the levels for the necessary resources for crafting, new firearms, and keycards. They can be used to open sections of the station that were previously closed. You can also go to previously inaccessible locations with the help of a spacewalk in special spacesuits.
