The action takes place in the distant future, in the post-apocalypse period. The exhausted planet has finally recovered from the extinction of a huge part of humanity, flooding the entire surface with lush vegetation and mutated predators.

Here you are a lonely wanderer who is diligently trying to adapt to an aggressive world and learn the secrets of an extinct civilization. To fully survive and achieve the plot goal, the user must maintain the basic life needs of the character, collect resources and craft useful items. The hero can be seriously injured, frostbitten, or die in a fight with a hostile animal. In Novus Inceptio, more than 30 species of living creatures are perfectly developed, killing which brings food, hides and other resources.

Over time, the character upgrades frequently used stats (punch power, crafting success, running speed, etc.). After reaching old age, the hero is replaced by a young clone who continues his path. To create complex items, you may need a variety of mechanisms and machines (a smelter, a workbench, a press, a sewing table). The project has a separate construction panel, with the help of which the gamer can design an unusual dwelling for himself.
