Lightout is an indie horror game with quest elements. This title uses three-dimensional graphics and a first-person view. This is a small project. It can be completed in its entirety in less than an hour.

The events of Lightout unfold in a multi-storey building. The hero appears on the landing and hears a woman's scream coming from one of the apartments. The protagonist decides to check the dwelling, and one is not locked. When it gets inside, strange things begin to happen. Soon it turns out that the killer is in the house. The main character needs to explore the premises and find a way to get out alive. He needs to get out of the building before the lights go out.

In the game, you can walk around and interact with the environment. For example: opening doors, turning pictures, pressing doorbells, activating electronic equipment, and so on. It is possible to pick up items and apply them to certain objects to advance further. All items found are stacked in the inventory. Some items allow you to look at them from different angles. You can also read their brief descriptions. Traditionally, for the genre, you need to read diaries here. Notes may contain clues for solving puzzles.
