Hylics 2 is a role-playing adventure in a surreal setting that uses atypical visuals to create its own style that has not been used before. The objects of the environment in the locations where the player moves are made in acid colors of the brightest palette. All the characters and territories are hand-designed by one person, who developed this project, using 3D scanning of clay figures.

The single-player campaign consists of many tasks that the main character named Wayne, who has a head in the shape of a crescent moon, will have to complete. The virtual protégé decided to make such a journey in order to prevent the destruction of their universe by the tyrant Gibby, who was defeated many centuries ago, but through the efforts of his henchmen returned to the world of the living in order to complete his original plan. The protagonist will have to assemble a motley team due to the fact that it is impossible to cope with all the enemies alone (there are 25 types of enemies in total).

The gameplay consists of exploring the world, collecting items to upgrade equipment and obtaining new abilities with the help of special TVs that train the main character and his companions. The combat system is made in turn-based mode, where all units on the battlefield take turns, applying offensive or defensive skills.
