Holstin is a survival horror with a psychological thriller atmosphere and action elements. The title differs from other horror games in its isometric appearance, setting, and visual style. All the two-dimensional pixel art was hand-drawn. It has three-dimensional effects and a dynamic lighting system. The game has the ability to freely rotate the camera left and right. There are 8 fixed angles. Of the features, we can also highlight the voice acting in Polish and English. Dialogues are accompanied by text. During conversations, large sprites of characters appear on the screen (much like visual novels). In addition to communicating with distraught inhabitants in this video game, you need to explore locations, look for useful items, deal with puzzles, fight monsters, and manage resources and things in the inventory. Puzzles here are solved in the first person.

The Holstein project takes place at the end of 1992. Events unfold in the east of Poland. The hero arrives in a small town called Jezerne Kolenja to find Bartek, who has stopped communicating. The protagonist goes on the trail of his missing friend and realizes that something is wrong in the settlement. The buildings, the people, and the nature itself in this town begin to literally rot from the inside out after an unimaginable disaster that began to consume everything and everyone. The main character needs to find out what his friend was doing in this festering settlement, and then find this person and leave this unfriendly place before it is too late.
