Don't sink is an action-adventure RPG with sandbox elements inspired by the universes of Pirates of the Caribbean, Faster Than Light, and Sid Meier's Pirates.

The game completely lacks a storyline: by allowing the gamer to create his own captain, giving a small amount of currency and a run-down ship, Don't sink sends the player on a free voyage. Each of the dozen islands available to explore is home to a large number of quest NPCs who are willing to share their knowledge and skills in exchange for a little help from the protagonist.

And yet, the main mechanics of the game are aimed at sea voyages. The ship needs to be maintained and constantly upgraded – in addition to being needed as a means of transport, its cannons decide which of the pirate leaders will get the loot. The crew also influences the development of events - sailors with poor health not only reduce the rate of fire of the guns, but can simply self-destruct by falling overboard.

A special mechanic of the game is the capture of colonies. Having spent a huge amount of pirates, money and weapons, it is possible to take possession of an entire island, which will subsequently bring a stable income.
