Dave tells the story of a simple guy named Dave. Square Guy Works As An Ordinary Shepherd In Brightwood. One day, he learns of the evil coming to his world. He will have to save the kingdom by traveling through different dimensions. Each of them adds new mechanics to the gameplay. The story has 4 different endings.

Dave is a two-dimensional platformer. The camera is located on the side. The hero can run, jump and use a magic wand. It allows you to create cubes. Most of the time, the protagonist jumps over chasms, dodges enemy attacks, deceives opponents, and solves riddles. Puzzles are tied to physics. The character is controlled with a keyboard or gamepad.

The squares created by the magic item allow you to jump higher, climb into hard-to-reach places, avoid traps, overcome obstacles and get rid of enemies. The platforms in this game are only able to support a limited weight. This can be used to bring down a beam hanging on ropes on the heads of monsters. Occasionally, the shepherd will encounter friendly creatures. You can talk to them, and during dialogues they allow you to choose lines. A short title can be completed in a couple of evenings.
