Pirate setting in Battlewake tells about the turbulent seas, where fantasy heroes converge in battles on ships. Users will have to fight against other captains, controlling their own ship and calling for the help of ancient forces. There are 4 mythical lords to choose from: Diego the Terrible, Reverend the Unforgiving, Calaver the Immortal, and Zhang the Magnificent. The project is designed for single-player and cooperative passage of the story, with the possibility of battles in arenas of the PvP format.

Exploration of the seas in Battlewake is implemented in the form of battles, which are levels of the story campaign. Between tasks, there will be cutscenes that tell about the development of the world and the impact of the gamer's actions. Users will have to accumulate experience and gold to improve and upgrade characters, as well as the characteristics of the ship. There are about 13 different weapons to choose from, including ballistae, anti-aircraft and chain cannons, mortars, or axes for the protagonists. The player is able to use special abilities in battle, helping to summon magical forces that create hurricanes, air vortices or devastating tsunamis.

The project allows you to use virtual reality glasses during the passage to dive deeper into the process of exploring water secrets and feel the turns, ramming or moments when the ship is heeling. In multiplayer death matches, players will be able to use the summons of whirlpools or the Kraken to influence the outcome of battle, as well as shoot bone spikes to pierce the enemy hull.
